Ok, so this time it’s not about Small Business Server, but about SCMDM and Exchange Server 2007. Not a problem because you can use SCMDM to manage as little as five devices, and for an SMB that relies on mobile devices for their workforce, SCMDM may just is the ticket.  (Note: It does require a minimum of two servers!)

There are several reasons why one would want to take a closer look at SCMDM, foremost probably for the mobile VPN designed specifically for mobile devices allowing access to all network resources beyond Exchange and SharePoint.

You also have full Active Directory integration for security management with over 130 security policies and settings out of the box – you can now join the mobile device to AD and manage it by defining user or device groups applying consistent settings for device usage.

Another absolutely cool item is the Over the Air (OTA) self-service enrollment model and OTA deployment of firmware and software updates using WSUS3.0.

There is lot more cool stuff I’ll be talking about with SCMDM 2008 in the near future, including screenshots etc. but first I thought I share my travel itinerary where I’ll be presenting on SCMDM 2008.
