Finally I got meet co-author Mei Ying Lim, a MOSS MVP living in beautiful Singapore. Mei Ying had gracefully tackled the three SharePoint 3.0 chapters published in the last SBSC Primer book (www.smbnation.com). Mei Ying is head deep in enterprise, but she is toying with the idea of starting her own business soon, offering her services as a consultant to SMBs. If you want to find out more about Mei Ying, visit her blog at http://meiyinglim.blogspot.com/ and maybe even ask her some SharePoint questions!
Singapore is such a great city, so photogenic and so full of high-tech stuff. Here is a picture of Hunan Digital Life Mall which I stumbled upon by accident. We are talking of five stories of nothing but tech retailers, oh heaven, mostly I was jealous of the cell phones (boasting 256mb onboard) and bluetooth gadgets. I'll come back here anyday to shop!
Then of course you alway hear about the strict Singapore laws... well judge for yourself.
Singapore is full of great skyscrapers, parks, coffee shops and people. I couldn't resist to visit the harbor front and shoot a picture across to the Merlion, one of Singapore's well known landmarks.
When talking about cleanliness - check this out - no its not a car showroom, it is an underground parking garage. It was so shiny and smelled so clean it made me think of a lobby in a five star hotel. (minus the marble)
One of the places not to miss at night is the waterfront lined with all the fantastic restaurants and beautiful view of the water, boats, skyscrapers - and best of all it is warmer than Florida! This is the mingling spot in town, what a great atmosphere.
Last not least I couldn't resist - but what is that? No cycling? Well, only in certain areas. Not a problem, Singapore is easy to get around by foot and then there are always the rikschas ready to take you from point A to B. :)
